Long time Copperfield restaurant The Rooster appears to have closed and opened under a new name, HS Cafe. I was driving by today and noticed they had a banner out for a Grand Opening. The new name on the outside says H S Chinese Restaurant. We moved to the Cy-Fair area in 1985 and the Rooster was open then. It was the only restaurant still in business in Copperfield that dates to that time period. The Rooster was is remembered by many for its long time waitress who always gruff and sometimes rude, but loved by many long time customers. Google The Rooster in Copperfield and you get the website for HS Cafe.
There is new Chinese restaurant directly across West Rd. from the Rooster, called China Inn Cafe which has pretty good food. The competition for customers must have been a little too intense for The Rooster. I am curious if any of the old staff from The Rooster will still be working there.

We can always check it out and see if the waitress is still there and how the food is.

Your comments are right on the mark about the waitress. It made me laugh. We ate there a few times since 1983 when we moved to Copperfield, but have done take out occasionally for years.

If you still live in Copperfield we have a lot more choices now for Chinese Food. China Inn Cafe across the street from where the Rooster was located is good. China Inn down about quarter mile from there on Hwy-6 is pretty good. China 9 on Cypress N Houston and Huffmeister Rd is a little further away, but is a family run restaurant and is excellent. H-S Chinese Restaurant is where the Rooster was located. We tried it for to go and it was surprisingly good, but the restaurant was deserted. We hope it makes it. Of all these, China 9 is our current favorite. Where are you getting your Chinese Food Fix?
Jeffery Butcher says
We sometimes go to the China Inn. We also tried the new HS Chinese Restaurant once and we liked the food, especially the prices. We have not been to the China 9, but will give it a try.

We went back to HS Chinese and had a pretty good meal. The servings are large. The hot and spicy Crispy Shrimp was excellent.

We had to restore a backup and lost some of the comments on this thread. Please accept my apology if your comments were deleted. Someone had asked what I liked at HS Chinese. The main dish I have ordered was the Crispy Shrimp. It was so good I ordered it both times I have eaten there. It is a lightly breaded shrimp in a spicy brown sauce. Yum!
