A.D. Dyess Park is where Cypress youth sports live — 113 acres of ballfields at 16822 Kitzman Rd, a mile south of the Grand Parkway, packed on weekends with softball and soccer games and, in a twist you won’t find at other parks, a dedicated radio-control model aircraft airfield with its own club. It’s a Harris County Precinct 3 park, open daily 7 a.m.–10 p.m.
What you’ll find at Dyess Park
The core is the field complex — softball diamonds and a sprawl of soccer fields (our count on visits: 8 lighted softball plus roughly two dozen soccer fields of all sizes) — supported by batting cages, concessions, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, a gazebo, drinking fountains, restrooms, and plenty of lighted parking. Fair warning from experience: on game-day Saturdays the lots fill and getting in and out of Kitzman Rd takes patience. Precinct 3’s parks page covers contacts and reservations.
Two volunteer organizations run the action. Dynamos Soccer — the club the old Cy-Fair Soccer Club merged into — uses the soccer fields, and the Cy-Fair Girls Athletic Association calls the softball complex home. On the airfield side, the Spring Area Radio Kontrol Society (SPARKS) flies at 17050 Kitzman Rd — grass runways, a covered shelter, flying 8 a.m. to dark under a 400-foot ceiling, per the Academy of Model Aeronautics listing. Watching the planes is free entertainment even if your kids’ games are on the other side of the park.
What’s coming at Dyess Park
Precinct 3’s 2023 master plan has real ambitions here: better drainage at the ballfields, renovated restrooms, a paved airfield parking lot, new multi-sport fields on the west side with added parking and a playground to the north, expanded nature trails and off-road biking, fishing piers — even equestrian facilities made the medium-priority list. None of it was on the county’s completed-projects list as of early 2026, but this park is clearly on the county’s radar.

Dyess Park: quick answers
Which leagues play at Dyess Park?
Dynamos Soccer (formerly the Cy-Fair Soccer Club) on the soccer side and the Cy-Fair Girls Athletic Association on the softball side. Field use outside league play requires permission from the clubs.
What’s the deal with the model airplane field?
The Spring Area Radio Kontrol Society (SPARKS) maintains a dedicated RC airfield at the park’s 17050 Kitzman Rd side — grass runways, flying from 8 a.m. to dark. It’s an AMA-chartered club, and spectators are welcome.
What are Dyess Park’s hours?
7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily — a later close than most Harris County parks, which fits a park whose fields are lighted for evening games.
Last updated: July 2026. League schedules and construction plans change — verify current details with Precinct 3 and the clubs before visiting.
