Cypress Top Historic Park is a small historical park located in the heart of the original old Cypress Texas.  The park and its turn of the century historical buildings give visitors a feel for when the area served as a railway junction between Houston and Hempstead during the late 19^th century.

Cypress Top Historic Park is located in the heart of Cypress, TX at 26026 Hempstead Rd.  The property is directly to the south of the Lowe’s Home Improvement Store at the southeast corner of the US Hwy-290 and Fry Rd intersection.   Link to Park Map

Cypress Top Historic Park Features

Cypress Top Historic Park is a 2.637 Acre Harris County Park dedicated to education on the Cypress area’s rich past as a popular layover for travelers between Hempstead & Houston during the late 19^th & early 20^th centuries.    The park is located on property donated to Harris County by descendants of the original owners of the site off Old Hempstead Hwy near Fry Rd.   Visitors can enjoy a walk between authentic buildings, including a family home, a service station, a railway depot, a general store, a barber shop, a dance hall, a flour mill & storage shed, with tours provided every Tuesday at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm.

In addition to the property, buildings & furnishings were donated to the County.   The Juergen Hall, a historic German dance hall, now serves as a Community Center offering a wide range of special events & programs ranging from exercise classes to child vaccination clinics.   The interior of the Hall serves as somewhat of a museum with historical photos & items adorning all the walls.   An old railroad depot is home to the Darline Roth Research Library run by the Cypress Historical Society.    More modern facilities include a restroom building and an open picnic pavilion with a barbeque pit.
