Who was MayDell Jenks?

MayDell Jenks (1947–2023) devoted a 43-year career to teaching students languages — she came to Katy ISD in 1981 teaching German at Taylor High, became the district’s first coordinator for ESL, bilingual, and foreign languages in 1985, and built the programs that still serve Katy’s multilingual families. The bilingual campus that bears her name opened in August 2016; the Jaguars wear purple, black, and silver. School hours are 8:23 a.m. to 3:40 p.m.
