Matzke Park

Matzke Park is a prime example of a partnership between government and community organizations in creating and developing a much needed community park.  The 19.4 acre park is nestled among residential areas and adjacent to Cy-Fair ISD’s Bleyl Middle School and Matzke Elementary School in northwest Harris County.   The park’s walking trail follows the property border containing plenty of open, grassy area and encircling numerous amenities within it.

How to Find Matzke Park

The park is a 19.4 acre Harris County Park in northwest Harris County in the Cy-Fair area of Houston Texas.  It is bordered on the west and east by Jones Road and Copeland Road.  The north and south borders are Grant Road and a Cy-Fair ISD school complex.   The park is approximately 2 miles southwest of the Spring area along Hwy 249 and 5 miles east of the Cypress area along Hwy 290 in the heart of Cy-Fair.   Parking entrances are off Jones Road on the west side of the park and another off Copeland Road on the east side of the park.   Link to Park Map

The park amenities include a paved walking trail with exercise stations, picnic areas with pavilions and a gazebo, a playground, soccer fields, a cricket field, restrooms, and a butterfly garden.   Fields are leased and maintained by local clubs and permission is needed for private use, however, there is an abundance of grassy area open to the public.

There was strong community involvement and financial support in the construction of many of the park’s present amenities.  Funds and equipment from private clubs and local businesses were used to upgrade Harris County’s open and grassy park.
