Mason Creek Park is Katy’s everyday trail park — officially the Mason Creek Park North Hike & Bike Trail, just over 3 miles of paved path across 98 acres of creekside greenway at 2500 Porter Rd, run by Harris County Precinct 4. It threads between neighborhoods along Mason Creek and its wetland detention pond, ties into Katy Park on its west end, and belongs to a larger Mason Creek trail system that Precinct 4’s directory lists at more than 10 miles all told.

What you’ll find at Mason Creek Park

The 10-foot-wide asphalt trail is the whole point here: a loop around the wetland detention pond east of Porter Rd, and a creekside run west to Katy Park — herons and other wildlife are regulars along the water. The county lists fishing, a playground, and exercise stations among the amenities, with the playground near the Porter Rd entrance. Hours are 7 a.m.–9 p.m. daily; details on the official Precinct 4 trail page. For picnic tables and restrooms, Katy Park at the trail’s west end has both in quantity — the two parks work as one outing.

The separate Mason Creek South trail picks up at Kingsland Blvd at Westgreen and runs toward George Bush Park — Precinct 4’s trail directory lists it at 7.7 miles, making Mason Creek one of the longest paved corridors in the Katy area.

What’s new at Mason Creek Park

Two things have changed since we first wrote this page in 2016. The playground and exercise stations that were only “under consideration” back then are now built and on the county’s official amenity list, and the park’s footprint is now listed at 98 acres. Bigger picture: in March 2026, Precinct 4 and the Flood Control District broke ground on a $10 million Barker Reservoir watershed rehabilitation along Mason Creek — channel restoration and drainage work that protects the neighborhoods this trail serves.
