Waller Park is Willowbridge’s neighborhood park in northwest Houston — a West Harris County MUD 11 facility, funded by the district’s own residents and dedicated in fall 2012, built around a pond with two fishing piers and a paved walking path that doubles as a trailhead on the district’s White Oak Bayou trail. The dedication monument at the entrance says it plainly: a recreational facility for all ages. That’s exactly how the neighborhood uses it.

What you’ll find at Waller Park

The pond is the heart of the park, with two fishing piers reaching over the water and homes ringing the far bank — when we photographed the park, the piers and the birdlife were doing steady business. A paved path circles the grounds with benches along the way, a footbridge, a picnic area, and a shaded stretch of path that ducks through the trees — a nice surprise in a neighborhood park. Hours are dawn to dusk, pets stay on leash, and the posted rules keep it family-first: no motorized vehicles, no alcohol or glass, and kids under 10 accompanied by an adult. One line on the rules sign worth appreciating: the park drains to the Galveston Bay Estuary, so trash goes in the cans.

The trail that runs through it

Waller Park is one of the trailheads on the district’s roughly 1.5-mile concrete walking trail along White Oak Bayou and the Jersey Village bypass channel. The same trail picks up at Ballinger Park and Westwillow Park, behind Gleason Elementary on Willowbridge Park Blvd, and at the south side of Cook Middle School — stitching Willowbridge, Westbridge, and Stonebridge Village together with a car-free path. Harris County Flood Control has announced plans to tie this stretch into the larger White Oak Bayou Greenway network north toward Jones Road and south under Beltway 8; check current maps before counting on the connections.
