Cypress Park is 165 acres of flood-control land turned neighborhood greenspace at 12925 N Eldridge Parkway, run by Harris County Precinct 3 — a pond-centered park where 1.56 miles of paved trail loop the water, with a bridge cutting across the middle. The pond earns its keep twice: it’s one of the Cypress area’s better-known local fishing spots, and since 2024 it’s been the county’s $6.7 million pilot for smarter flood control.

What you’ll find at Cypress Park

Two connected trail loops — a 0.65-mile short loop across the pond bridge and a 1.39-mile outer loop reaching the park’s wooded western edge along Little Cypress Creek — with benches and exercise stations along the way. The N Eldridge entrance has the parking lot, picnic tables, a restroom, a playground, and shade canopies; most of the rest of the acreage is left as nature area between Cypress Creek and Little Cypress Creek. The pond made My Neighborhood News’s 2024 roundup of top Cypress fishing spots, and Maxwell Park sits just across Little Cypress Creek if you want a second, quieter fishing stop. What’s new at Cypress Park

In April 2024 the county broke ground on a $6.7 million Detention Pond Enhancement Pilot here — excavating the pond and adding a valve system so crews can lower the water level ahead of major storms, creating roughly 120 acre-feet of extra flood storage for the neighborhoods around it (part of an $11.2 million two-park drainage package with Deputy Darren Goforth Park). Parts of the trail closed temporarily during construction. Bigger wish-list items from Precinct 3’s 2023 master plan — expanded nature trails, off-road biking paths, fishing piers, new picnic tables — are on the books for this park but hadn’t been built as of early 2026, so treat those as coming attractions rather than promises.
