Zube Park

Zube Park in Hockley Texas is a short drive out US Hwy-290 from Cypress TX.  Park visitors enjoy a complex of 6 soccer fields, playground and picnic areas, and a well-maintained hike & bike trail with numerous workout stations.  Adjacent to the park is the Houston Area Live Steamers’ 6 mile mini railroad where they provide free 15 minute rides to the public every 3rd Saturday of the months March thru November.

How to Find Zube Park

Zube Park is a 140 acre Harris County park located off Roberts Road in Hockley, TX in northwest Harris County.   The park is approximately 1 mile north of US Hwy-290, 4 1/2 miles out Hwy-290 from the newly constructed Grand Parkway and the Cypress area.   The northern border of the park is Little Cypress Creek, which also serves as the adjacent southern border to the Houston Area Live Steamers’ 1/8 scale Cypress Creek & Southern Railroad.   Recent expansion to the east of the park & trail system has recently been completed.  A second parking lot at 17813 Becker Rd allows access to this section of the park.    Link to Park Map

Zube Park Features

The park’s amenities include a paved walking trail along which visitors can enjoy the use of various workout stations,  gazebo & picnic areas with barbecue grills, a playground, restrooms and a complex of 6 soccer fields with a concession building.   The family oriented park is used by the Cy Fair Youth Soccer Club for their area tournaments.

The recent expansion off Becker Rd includes a seasonal spray park (splash pad), a covered pavilion with numerous exercise machines, a playground, picnic pavilions and additional walking trails.

Unique to the park is the adjacent mini railroad yard operated by the Houston Area Live Steamers.    Train enthusiasts of all ages can enjoy a free ride every 3rd Saturday of the month.    A specially designed handicap car even accommodates a standard sized wheelchair.  While waiting for the next ride, passengers can enjoy the gazebo and on-site pond.
